Hanuman Ji Roles In Ramayana

Lord Hanuman is well known for his extreme devotion to Lord Rama. Lord Hanuman is always depicted in the Indian folklaire as an icon of true devotion and a symbol of the power of true devotion and chastity.
Lord Hanuman's devotion to Lord Rama is symbolic of the devotion of the enlightened individual soul towards the supreme soul.
Many stories from the Indian literature tell the tales of Lord Hanuman protecting devotees of Lord Rama and helping those who seek his either spiritually or otherwise. Swami Tulasidas has written these lines in respect of Lord Hanuman's great character, in praise of his powers and also devotion.

Hanuman Ji Roles In Ramayana :

His role was that of a yogi, probably the first and foremeost of yogi's in the world. His role was that of a 'Kaarya saadhak', or one who accomplishes ALL tasks. His role was that of a minister (to King sugreeva). Unlike us, he never questioned Sri Rama's character. His role was that of a preserver, who saves lives of the good and the vitreous. His role was to give confidence to Sita when she was about to comittt suicide and thus saved her life.  When Sri Rama and Lakshmana and majority of Vanaraa army was felled by Indrajit in almost a death state, Vibhishana sees Jaambavantha moving and wakes him up. Upon such waking up, Jaambavaan does not ask Vibheeshana whether Sri Rama was ok, instead he asks him if Hanumaan is ok and alive. Vibheeshana thinks for a second as asks him why he didnt want to know about whether Sugreeva or Sri Rama was alive or not and instead asked whether Hanumaan was alive, to which Jaambavaan replies "If Hanumaan is alive, we will all live, if he is dead even Sugreeva and Sri Rama cannot do anything"......That is the role of Hanuman!

His role was to accomplish what his peers in his lifetime considered impossible and thus show the world that where there is a will there is a way. Sita prayed to him with folded palms when he assures of Rama's arrival and is about to depart from Ashoka vana in Sundara Kaanda with "Tvamasmin Kaarya niryogee pramaanam hari satttama, Hanumat Yatna maastaaya Dhukha Kshya karo Bhava" (You are the evidence of how to accomplish impossible tasks, Hey Hanumaan please remove this extreme difficulty/distress of mine); Lord Rama and Lakshamana sang his praises as he left on his mission in Kishkinda Kaanda saying "Jai Hanumaan, Jai Hanumaan". When he alone returned having found traces of Sita in Sundara Kaanda, Lord & emperor Sri Rama himself said "at this time i do not have any gift to give you except the strength that lies in my arms, and these are yours" and hugs him (perhaps, the origin of hugging).
